It is important that we are all aware of the reasons why people become unhappy so that we have a better understanding of how to help and support them or ourselves. Unhappiness is a daily feeling that we all face, and usually there is no serious effect from it. However unhappiness can lead to an array of ongoing negative feelings with mental consequences.
Unrealistic Expectations
Setting ourselves high expectations is no bad thing, however when we set ourselves unrealistically high expectations, failure to achieve them can be detrimental to our mental happiness. We all want the best possible outcome and we have all at some point set our expectations that high. It is important that we have aims and ambitions. They give us a drive, a reason to work harder. However, there is a thin line between realistic high expectations and unrealistic high expectations, this is a line that we must all be careful not to cross.
We always want more
When we get used to what we have, we always want more. Much unhappiness comes from not being able to have more, we are not happy with what we have and always seek to expand on our material goods. In this way, we are never truly satisfied with our lives, this is a main reason why many people are unhappy.
Not seeing the results
When you have been working really hard on something and you see very few results from it, it can be incredibly frustrating. one of the main reasons why people become unhappy is because they don't see the results nor the impact of their work. The truth is, you get what you put in, and so if you put in the hard work you will eventually see the results. Maybe not right away, but there will be results. Another thing to be aware of is that you will be the last person to see any changes or results there may be. The people around you will see the results first! Not seeing them yourself means that you may feel like you are wasting your energy on something pointless. But remember, that you will eventually see the results, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not in a week, or month or year. Eventually.
